Goals & Curriculum

Learning Through Play

Our Preschool specializes in “good first teaching” of foundational concepts using first hand experiences and the exploring of concepts in many different ways. Our goal is to allow each child to reach their potential, and develop a love of learning. Our program includes:

Literacy

A play-based approach to literacy that integrates oral language, listening, early reading and writing.

Music

An opportunity for children to express themselves through music. They learn to sing, listen, follow directions, play games, dance and use rhythm instruments.

Movement

Opportunities to develop large motor skills through activities on the outdoor equipment, as well as activities with balls, rings, bean bags, jump ropes, etc. We promote an awareness of good health practices.

Social Studies

Introduction to concepts that allow children to relate to the world and people around them. We share themes of cooperation, empathy, and respect. The different family celebrations and cultural customs represented in the school are respected and shared.

Math and Science

Engaging with a wide variety of objects allows for exploration of shapes through building, tracing, counting, estimating, tallying, patterning, and classifying. Children are provided the opportunity to observe, investigate, question, experiment, and explore the physical world around them.

Cooking

Through regular cooking activities following recipes, our children learn basic cooking principles, where food is from,  math concepts, as well as cooperation and turn taking.
